Unknown men kill Nigerian soldier in Sudan

A Nigerian soldier on a peacekeeping mission with the African Union–United Nations Hybrid Operation in Darfur, UNAMID, was killed on Wednesday, by unknown men during a carjacking that happened in Nyala, South Darfur State in Sudan.

UNAMID in a statement on Thursday, condemned the attack, saying that it contravenes international law.

The mission said it has informed appropriate Sudanese authorities of the tragic incident asking that the government immediately prosecute those involved in the killing.

The mission has also sent condolence messages to the family of the deceased, his colleagues, and the Federal Government of Nigeria.
