
Nigerian Senate on Wednesday gave a two-week ultimatum to acting President Yemi Osinbajo to ensure that budgets of 31 public agencies, including the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and the Nigerian Ports Authority are submitted to the National Assembly in line with the provisions of the Nigerian Constitution and the Fiscal Responsibility Act.
The Senate, following the Deputy Leader, Bala Na’Allah’s motion, ordered that the 31 establishments stopped spending until they comply with the ultimatum.
Some senators registered their displeasure against the agencies for spending funds without an appropriation from the upper chamber Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu; Solomon Adeola, APC-Lagos; George Sekibo, PDP-Rivers; James Manager, PDP-Delta; Barnabas Gemade, APC-Benue were among those who voiced their opinions.
