Oyo to fund healthcare with N50 billion

The Oyo State government has announced that it plans to improve healthcare delivery with N50 billion Healthcare Endowment Fund initiative to ensure access to quality healthcare in the state.

The N50 billion was raised through support from individuals, local and international organisations to bridge the gap in the health sector said, Dr. Bola Olaosebikan Consultant to Oyo State Healthcare Endowment Fund told Vanguard.

His words: “Governor Abiola Ajimobi has identified the need to improve hospital infrastructure in the state and he didn’t want to increase the fee for accessing healthcare hence the idea of the Healthcare Endowment Fund which will be launched in July this year.”

Olaosebikan also said the current economy situation in the country coupled with the huge cost of providing quality healthcare informed the state’s government decision to source for the endowment fund.

He added that the initiative which is first in the country will be managed by credible people.
