
The Nasarawa State Government, Friday has given N5 million for the renovation of a press centre belonging to the Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ) in the state.
Gov. Tanko Al-Makura announced this when a delegation from the union, Nasarawa chapter visited him in Lafia, the state capital. The governor who also donated 20 laptops to the NUJ, said the donation was part of his administration’s commitment to building the capacity of practising journalists in the state adding that a bus and a pilgrimage slot would be given to the body.
The Vanguard report said he urged the NUJ to ensure social media journalists operate within the confines of the profession.
Mr. Dogo Shama, the state chairman of the NUJ thanked the governor for his commitment towards the improvement of journalism in the state.
