The Corps Marshal of the Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC) Mr. Boboye Oyeyemi announced that the Corps’ Academy in Udi, Enugu State will soon become a degree awarding institution.
The Corp Marshall said this on Friday in Owerri while meeting with the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, FUTO Prof. Francis Eze.
Oyoyemi said the National University Commission (NUC) had permitted the FRSC academy to be affiliated with FUTO as a criterion for the proposed upgrade as the academy is set begin operations with post graduate diploma studies.
“We are here on the directive of the NUC Executive Secretary in order to meet with its requirements to upgrade our institution.
“We have chosen to affiliate with your institution because we know that FUTO is among the best institutions in the nation offering transport-related causes,” Oyeyemi said.
Eze replied that FUTO was ready, saying that: “we will give you all support to succeed in your plans because I know that it will enhance human capacity development.”
He promised that FUTO would play its role to ensure the affiliation begin in the next academic session.
The vice chancellor of FUTO inaugurated a technical committee comprising senior FRSC staff and top management staff of FUTO to be chaired by Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics, Prof. Okoro Ogbobeme, to work out memorandum of understanding on the affiliation.
