Father, son sexually assaulted 12-year-old daughter in Lagos

A 56-year-old man, Sunday Adimagwu, and his 21-year-old son Kenneth have been arraigned Ikeja Magistrate Court for defiling a 12-year-old girl who is his daughter and step-sister to Kenneth.

The father, a driver, and the son, a trader, both stay in Ajangbadi, Okokomaiko, a suburb along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.

Inspector Clifford Ogu, the prosecutor, told the court that the offences were committed between September 2016 and April 2017 at the home of the accused.

He said the 12-year-old had been living with her father and step-mother after her father and the mother separated.

According to Ogu, “both father and son sexually assaulted the girl on several occasions.”

“When the girl had the opportunity, she ran to her mother’s house and told her what she has been going through— persistent sexual assault.”

The prosecutor also told the court that 12-year-old girl’s mother reported the case to the police station which led to the arrest of perpetrators.

The offence, Ogu said, contravenes Section 259 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).

Father and son, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge. The Chief Magistrate Taiwo Akanni, granted the accused bail in the sum of N250,000 each, with two sureties each, in like sum and adjourned the case until June 19.
