The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele, on Wednesday appeared for screening before the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions following his re-nomination by President Muhammadu Buhari for a second term last week.
In the executive communication, the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki acknowledged that Emefiele has been re-nominated by President Muhammadu Buhari for another term of five years.
The committee was given one week to carry out the screening and report back to the Senate.
The committee, chaired by Sen. Rafiu Ibrahim (PDP, Kwara), commenced the screening at noon on Wednesday.
Emefiele, who was appointed as CBN Governor on June 2, 2014, is due to end his first term on June 2, this year.
