Benue Assembly passes N176.6bn of 2017 budget

The Benue State House of Assembly on Tuesday passed the budget of N176.6bn for the 2017 fiscal year.

Recall that the state’s lawmakers increased the sum by N12.7bn, after the governor, Samuel Ortom had earlier presented a budget draft of N163.9bn to the Assembly last December.

The budget titled, ‘Budget of Rural Transformation,’ has N66.7bn as recurrent expenditure, N109.9bn for capital expenditure while N36.1bn is for deficit financing.

Adam Okloho, Chairman of the Appropriation Committee, said the increment was due to the non-inclusion of some projects by the Ministry of Finance and other requests by MDAs for inclusion of some essential projects not captured in the initial draft.
