Appeal Court upholds election of Edo state governor, Godwin Obaseki

The Court of Appeal sitting in Benin City, Edo state, on Friday, upheld the election of Godwin Obaseki of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the duly elected governor of the state.

Recall that Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, in the September 28, 2016 state gubernatorial election, filed an appeal at the court, challenging Obaseki’s election victory despite the state’s election tribunal ruling which affirmed Obaseki as governor.

Obaseki thanked the people of Edo State for their unwavering support.
