A software developing company, Andela says it has opened a branch in Kampala, Uganda making the country the firm’s the third African market, after Nigeria and Kenya.
Andela which trains young Africans and outsource them to work with partner companies was launched in Nigeria in September 2014
The company which launched in Kenya in July 2015, is set to begin operations in Uganda with the selected eight developers, from the 800 received applications.
The chief strategy officer for Andela, Wambui Kinya said:

“Andela is excited to support and contribute to the growth of the Ugandan tech ecosystem by providing a hub for brilliant minds to learn and collaborate.”
The company said it launched in Uganda after collecting and analysing data on technology ecosystems across Africa over two years.
“With 70 per cent of its population below the age of 25 – the second youngest country in the world – Uganda represents a massive opportunity for Andela to equip the next generation of technologists and innovators in Kampala with the expertise they need to accelerate the advancement of their local communities through technology,” the company said.
