The wife of Nigeria’s president Mrs. Aisha Buhari leads the campaign against maternal and child mortality in Nigeria.
Mrs. Buhari’s NGO, the ‘Future Assured’ launched a five-day, free medical outreach on Thursday in Makurdi, the Benue State capital.
The health coordinator for the initiative, Maryam Hadi told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the project which was committed to providing free medical treatments for women, youth and children in Benue would de-worm 1000 school children, screen and make a diagnosis for hypertension, malaria, diabetes, breast and cervical cancers.
NAN reports that the outreach was organised in collaboration with the Benue State government and Marie Stopes International.
The wife of Benue State governor, Mrs. Eunice Ortomwhile appreciating the Mrs. Buhari for the holding the outreach in the state, said that Benue women are grateful for the gesture.
