A Kwara United FC of Ilorin player Saka Azeez, who plays at
Nigeria’s second tier league – Nigeria National League (NNL) has died on Friday after he slumped during training.
The club’s spokesperson, Abdulwaheed Bibire in a statement, said the death of the player was a rude shock, given his contributions to the club.
“From Almighty Allah we come and to him shall we return.
“Death is an inevitable end which every soul will experience, hence the need for his family, friends, close associates and soccer fans to take solace in God for the irreparable loss.
“He slumped in training and we rushed him to the State General Hospital, which is just some meters away from the stadium, where he was confirmed dead,’’ Bibire said.
Azeez, a left full back joined Kwara United from FC Zamfara at the beginning of this season 2017/2018 NNL season.
