Gombe State government has bought drug kits worth N4 million for the management and treatment of Cerebrospinal Meningitis (CSM) in the state.
Dr. Kennedy Ishaya, commissioner for health said this while presenting kits to the Managing Director of Gombe Specialist Hospital, Dr. Arnold Abel.
The commissioner of health saith the kits which were certified by the World Health Organisation (WHO) for the management and treatment of CSM would be freely given to all government health institutions, federal teaching and private hospitals in the state.
“The moment we make a clinical assertion that a patient’s case is ‘suspected CSM’, he or she will benefit from the drugs.
“We are also going to buy vaccines and immunize people who are within the reach group,” Ishaya said.
The MD of Gombe Specialist hospital while receiving the drugs commended the state government’s effort in combating meningitis in the state.
