The Federal Government has announced that teachers who do not have the Professional Certificate of The Teachers’ Registration Council, TRCN, will be relieved of their jobs by December.
The Register/Chief Executive of the Council, Professor Olusegun Ajiboye said this in Ibadan on Tuesday. He disclosed this decision which is one of a three-year strategic plan by the minister of education, Malam Adamu Adamu was focused to get rid of unqualified and teachers in Nigeria.

Ajiboye said, the first professional qualifying examination for TRCN will be conducted by the end of September 2017 and those who wish to use the normal registration should enroll before the end of May 2017.
He explained that about 1.6 million teachers are registered already and the examinations will be written in modules of different categories which include A -Ph.D. holders; B –M.Sc. holders; C-B.Sc. holders; D- NCE holders.
“By the end of 2017, Nigerian children will be taught by only qualified professional teachers who can deliver the quality education desirous of our children and our country.
“Professionalism is the key, those who do not have what it takes cannot be trusted with the lives of our children,” Ajiboye said.
