FG to setup staple crop processing zones in high food production areas

The Minister of State for Agriculture, Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri, has announced that Nigeria’s government will set up staple food processing zones across the country.

Speaking at a stakeholders conference organised by Akassa Development Foundation zones (ADF), the minister said that the plan was one of the multiple measures priotorised in the nine billion dollars fund project, budgeted to address productivity challenges in the agriculture sector.

Lokpobiri added that the staple crops processing zones would be set up in areas of high food production, and the government will use fiscal and infrastructure incentives to attract private food manufacturing companies to add value to agricultural produce.
