Edo Joint Account Committee declares N2.10 billion allocation for Local Governments

Edo government has announced N2.10 billion as the total allocation accrued to the 18 local governments in the state from the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and the Federation Account for March 2017.

This was declared by the state’s Joint Account and Allocation Committee (JAAC) on Friday at a meeting in the government house, Benin.

Speaking for JAAC Mr. Akeens Ade-Akhani, who is also Owan East’s Local Administration head said about N15million and N7 million were collected as revenue in Oredo and Egor LGs respectively using the electronic process from March 22 to May 11.

Ade-Akhani also stated that N1.36 billion of the total allocation accruable in March was used as mandatory expenditure which include payment of salaries for primary school teachers, traditional rulers and training fund percentage while N748 million was used for paying salaries of local government workers.

N1. 89 billion was the total allocation accrued to the 18 LGs in the state for February, while the N21 million increase in March was due to introduction of electronic means of revenue collection in some LGs in the state said Ade-Akhani.
