Taiwan has a large gay community and their annual gay pride parade known as Taiwan pride is Asia’s biggest with the first parade held in 2003 while gay rights activists have been fighting for this legislation for almost 30 years.

Ying Xin, executive director of the Beijing LGBT Center said, “This is significant for all of Asia.”Taiwan is walking in front of other Asian countries on this.”
