Abuja fashion designer in court for damaging clothes worth N138,000

A 26-year-old fashion designer, Mohammed Dieng, was arraigned on Friday in a grade 1 area court, in Karu, Abuja, for allegedly damaging a customer’s clothes worth of N138, 000.

Dieng was arraigned on a two-count charge of criminal breach of trust and cheating, which contravened sections 312 and 322 of the Penal Code.

The prosecutor, Mamud Ismail, told the court that complainant, one Mercy Ibeh of Garki, Abuja had reported the matter at the Maitama police station on May 15, stating that three pairs of clothes worth N138,000 and an advance cash of N25,000 was given to Dieng in August 2015 but the designed a style different what was planned.

Hassan Ishaq, the trial judge, granted the defendant bail of N150,000 and also ordered him to produce a reliable surety in like sum while the case was adjourned for hearing to  July 19.
